Endowment Development
A general endowment is a vehicle for which churches and United Methodist institutions can fund ministry for future generations. It provides a place for members and friends to make charitable gifts that will be used in perpetuity. These gifts become living memorials which can be used to fund: missions in and beyond the local church or institution, unbudgeted special needs and ministries, unbudgeted capital improvements, scholarship funds, etc.

All of these opportunities for funding would be determined by the Endowment Committee established according to the United Methodist Book of Discipline by the Administrative Council and approved by the Charge Conference. The United Methodist Foundation will work with churches on a step by step process to establish, promote and manage endowment funds.
Growing an Endowment Program
The Foundation can provide resources to help churches implement a five-year planned giving program within the life cycle of the local church or institution. This is one of the most effective ways of growing endowment funds and providing for ministry on in to the future. This program is designed to increase awareness within the congregation of the many ways to include the church in the estate planning process. We are able to tailor resources to fit the church's needs. Some of these resources include planned giving seminars, leadership training, brochure templates and tips on promoting your endowment.
