A Word From The President

Hello! Welcome to the website of the United Methodist Foundation of Western North Carolina. We are glad you are here. Throughout this website we hope you will see our resounding commitment to be a ministry of the church for the church throughout western North Carolina and beyond. Since 1985 we have been an active ministry of The Western North Carolina Conference and offer the following ministries:

Endowment Development. We have a long-term goal of encouraging every church and institution to establish a General Endowment Fund so that your ministry can be funded in perpetuity. When working with churches, we do this in accordance with the Book of Discipline.

Fund Management. Our goal is to help you be the best steward of the monies entrusted to you. All four of our fund options with equities exposure are invested in socially responsible ways which offer competitive returns at competitively low administrative fees.

Planned Giving. We offer education for churches and assistance for individuals in establishing charitable trusts, bequests, donor advised funds, and charitable gift annuities.

Development Fund. We offer a minimal-risk investment option for individuals, as well as United Methodist institutions in North and South Carolina. This is a financial service established to fund our loan program and is an attractive alternative to certificate of deposits and money market funds. We seek a minimum 12-moth investment, but there is no penalty for early withdrawal.

Loan Program. The United Methodist Foundation offers variable rate loans to United Methodist Churches and related institutions in North and South Carolina. Our intention is to provide a favorable-rate loan that is below the rate of a commercial loan.

Permanently Restricted Endowment Services. We offer permanently restricted endowments to churches and individuals. Endowments are at the heart of what we do and, through grants, we are able to give back as we have been given to.

Leadership Development. Our strong programs in leadership are made possible through the Royce and Jane Reynolds Program in Church Leadership, the Reynolds Academy for Evangelism & Discipleship, and the Transition Into Ministry Program in conjunction with WNC conference wide initiative.

Stewardship Education. We offer stewardship education to churches, districts and the conference as a whole through out the year.

The Foundation's board, staff and I believe it is an honor and a privilege to be in ministry with our United Methodist sisters and brothers. We view the work of the Foundation to be more of a calling. Therefore, we view every encounter with a church, related institution or individual to be an opportunity to look at how God brings people together for the betterment of His kingdom. Our mission and vision statement makes it clear:
The United Methodist Foundation of Western North Carolina Inc. is a ministry of the church for the church whose mission is to build the church for generations to come. We fulfill this mission by investing in people, churches and related institutions and innovation. We envision a church where people live-out their faith through the wise use of their God-given resources.
We hope you'll experience the passion we have as a ministry for you and for the church. Our hope is that we can strengthen our relationship through the common goal as stated above through following Jesus, making disciples and transforming the world.
Grace and Peace,
David A. Snipes, President & Executive Director
